High Season (December – Mid-April): The Classic St Barts Experience

High season is when St Barts truly comes alive. The island fills with yachts, celebrities and an electric atmosphere — think Gustavia harbour at sunset with superyachts lined up bow-to-stern, and every restaurant in full swing. The weather is superb: warm, dry days around 27°C (80°F) with cooling trade winds that make outdoor dining and sailing a pleasure.

Villa availability is tight and prices are at their highest, so booking 6 to 12 months ahead is strongly recommended for the best properties. The payoff is a St Barts at its most vibrant and social.

Best for: First-timers, social travellers, special occasions, families during school holidays.

Christmas & New Year (20 December – 3 January): Peak of the Peak

The last two weeks of December represent the most coveted — and most expensive — period on the island. The New Year's Eve celebrations are legendary: fireworks over Gustavia harbour, parties on the beach and at private villas, and a festive energy unlike anywhere else in the Caribbean. Most properties require a minimum stay of 14 nights over this period.

Shoulder Season (April–May & November): The Smart Traveller's Choice

April–May and November sit on either side of the summer low season and offer an excellent balance: the island is quieter, prices are 20–40% lower than high season, and the weather remains largely pleasant. Restaurants are less rushed, beaches less crowded, and you are more likely to feel like the island is yours alone.

November in particular is a favourite with experienced St Barts travellers — the island has not yet woken up for the holiday rush, but everything is open and the sea is warm from the summer.

Best for: Couples, repeat visitors, those who value tranquility and value.

Low Season (June – October): St Barts Unplugged

The summer months coincide with the Caribbean hurricane season, and St Barts — while far north enough to largely avoid direct hits — does see more rain, higher humidity and occasional tropical storms, particularly in August and September. Several restaurants and boutiques close for the season.

That said, July and early August remain popular with French families during school holidays. Villa rates can be 40–60% lower, and the island has a raw, local charm that you simply cannot experience in high season.

Best for: Budget-conscious travellers, those happy to embrace a quieter, more authentic St Barts.
