Villa Saline Hills is a two-bedroom villa for four guests on the hillside above Grande Saline, on the south side of St Barth. Set in a large tropical garden of palms, fruit trees and flowering plants, this very quiet house, with almost no neighbors, has a heated pool on its terrace and a view down the valley to the salt pond and Saline Bay.

Setting and views

From the pool terrace the eye runs over the green hills to Saline Bay and the open sea beyond. The garden is the heart of the place, with a lawn shaded by tall palms, beds of native plants and small corners tucked among the greenery where a hanging chair or a pair of armchairs waits for the end of the afternoon. The heated pool lies along the edge of the lawn, with sun loungers on the deck and an outdoor shower in the garden.

Living spaces

The living room and the kitchen share one bright, open space under a high wooden ceiling, and the glass doors open straight onto the terrace and the pool. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a dining table for six, and an elliptical trainer stands in a corner of the living room for those who keep up their exercise on holiday. A curved staircase, white and sculptural, climbs to a mezzanine with a desk and a sofa, a quiet place to read or work under the beams. Outside, the covered terrace runs the length of the house, with an outdoor sofa and armchairs at one end and a long wooden table with benches for lunches in the shade.

Bedrooms

Both bedrooms are suites with a king bed, an en suite bathroom with shower and a walk-in closet. The first opens off the living room and directly onto the pool and the garden, with a view toward the sea, while the second is quieter and tucked away at the back of the house, its windows looking onto the garden.

Around the villa

Saline Beach, one of the longest stretches of white sand on the island, reached on foot through the dunes, is a three-minute drive away. Saint Jean is five minutes from the house, Gustavia eight, and the airport is under ten minutes away.
